Julie is a Clinical Psychologist with approximately 20 years’ of clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of mental health conditions. She has worked in public and private hospitals, universities and private practice health settings across Brisbane and Sydney. She is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and is a fellow of the College of Clinical Psychologists.
Julie works with adults to provide psychological treatment for a range of difficulties including: Mood disorders, Anxiety disorders (panic, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, performance anxiety, phobias and health anxiety), Post Traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma exposure adjustment difficulties, substance dependence issues, psychosocial impact of managing chronic health conditions, body image issues and conditions related to disordered eating, grief and loss, life transitions and workplace stress/career change.
Julie has specialist skills in the area of assessment and treatment of adults suffering from PTSD. Julie has treated a range of populations and individuals who have experienced adult trauma. She has for many years worked with current and ex serving QPS members and NSW Police Officers who have sustained a psychological injury during the course of carrying out their duties.
Julie uses evidenced based therapies to help her clients achieve maximum benefits from the sessions. To that end, she draws from a number of therapeutic strategies to assist her clients including, Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma Focused – CBT, Exposure therapies and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
Julie has supervised many University postgraduate training psychologists at both The University of Western Sydney Psychology Clinic and The University of New South Wales Psychology Clinic. She has also provided guest lectures and workshops to postgraduate training psychologists in the areas of Psychological Interventions, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the Assessment and Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders.
Throughout her career Julie has also been involved in a number of clinical research trials in the field of Post Traumatic Mental health across civilian, police and military populations.
